Piegon - Turn of the century - Mas Provencal

Listen and soon you'll hear the birds...and feel the energy of earth all around you. As I drove over the bridge through the plane trees from Mirabel du Baronies, we traveled about 3 miles then turned onto D516 for another 2 miles heading to Piegon. With GPS in hand...I spotted the sign to Piegon, took a sharp left and bigger than life, we set our eyes one of the most amazing carvings i've seen in the country side. Stop the car, I yelled to my husband Dick. This is too good to be true. Is this Piegon? We veered the car toward the office of le Marie (mayor). The answer: Yes.

(scribed to the right of this sculpture)

I was in awe. Rural and pure.  Quiete and serene.  What was the history of the carving? Where was the village?  Where were the people?  Well...probably at lunch.  It was noon.  But only three buildings, a map and the carving was that we saw. The owner of this Piegon property was on her way to meet us so that we could follow her to the home she wanted to rent. She arrived, greeted me with an ever so friendly smile and...very strong hand shake. We were off! The journey to the house was easy to find, well... maybe the second time. For this time, I was glad to be following....just up the hill, bear left and continue bearing left and left again...on a one lane driveway for what seemed to be forever but not --until you arrive at this gem of a property tucked in the hills along fields of olive trees and vineyards. To the west, we could see Vinsobres...to the right more olives fields.

Photo of this special Mas Provencal will speak for itself.  There are 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a solarium, dining area, a sweet little kitchen a study, office and sitting room, terraces galore and a pool. Designed for shorter folks than me (in some areas), I had to watch my head where massive beautiful original beams draped overhead.  The kitchen door opened onto a lovely terrace that lead up to a gorgeous pool enveloped by a beautiful umbrella pine and old palm tree. Can you believe it, yes a palm in the middle of north Provence.

The house had all original hearths and beams and was tastefully enhanced with some amenities of today.  The kitchen is equipped with dishwasher, microwave, full sized oven and refrigerator.  The solarium has its own sound system and gorgeous fireplace.  This was definitely a home that was not just rented, simply let out in the summer for 1 to 2 month (15 days at a time).
